From 2009 to 2014, Dr Camara was employed by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) as an Economic Affairs Officer at the African Trade Policy Center (ATPC) in the Regional Integration and Trade Division (RITD). His present work activities include the development and promotion of regional strategic food and agricultural commodities value chains in Africa, the establishment and operationalization of an African Agricultural Markets Information Systems Network (AAMIS-Net), the boosting of intra-African Trade (BIAT) and the establishment of the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA). From 2004 to 2006, Dr. Camara completed a two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship on Markets, Policy and Impacts at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Niamey, Niger. Major achievements during this assignment included two large-scale surveys in Nigeria and Niger on the adoption, scaling out/up and impact of agricultural technologies and innovations. Prior to this position, Dr. Camara was an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University’s Department of Agricultural economics.  He contributed in the development of market information products for Mali Market Information Project (PASIDMA), helped establish collaborative activities between MSU and the University of Mali, and prepared technical documents for African consultations of the Partnership to Cut Hunger in Africa.  Dr. Camara has in-depth field work experience in commodity markets, trade and policy analysis in West and Central Africa.
